Nitrile seals are the most widely used material in the word because of low cost, good mechanical performance with resistance to water, most basic oils, lubricants and some fuels, many pneumatic, hydraulic systems, and the default choice for basic applications.   

Nitriles are not recommended for exposure to sunlight, UV light, ozone and general outdoor weathering or hash chemicals, acids, keytones and many others.

HNBR     Hydrogenated Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber Hydrogenated NBR elastomer is formed by the selective hydrogenation of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR). 

In this process the double bonds are removed from the NBR, making the polymer more resistant to oxygen and increasing its heat resistance significantly. In contrast to NBR, hydrogenated NBR elastomer also offers improved wear resistance in dynamic applications and increased ageing resistance.

Also Known as:  EPDM, EPM, EP 

EPDM: Ethylene-propylene is a copolymer of ethylene and propylene (EPM), or, in some cases, a terpolymer due to the addition of a diene monomer (EPDM). EPDM O-rings have great resistance to weathering and steam. 

A special characteristic of EPDM is its resistance to certain brake and hydraulic fluids (including Pydraul® and Fyrquel and Skydrol®).  

Not suitable with most hydrocarbons, such as oils, gasoline, kerosene and petroleum oils.
