ROD Wipers

Rod Wipers For Hydraulic And Pneumatic Cylinders

Hydraulic cylinders operate in a variety of applications and environmental conditions, including exposure to dust, debris, or outside weather conditions. The wiper prevents these contaminants from entering the cylinder.

Most Effective

Uses two scraping edges. It prevents pressure from building up and trapping fluid between the wiper and the seal (a problem called "burping") by safely venting that pressure back into the system.

Scrapes the hardest. Best for heavy dirt, but keeps oil from sliding back in.

Least Aggressive

Leaves a thin film of oil or grease on the rod. Mostly used in air-powered (pneumatic) systems to keep parts lubricated.

Dry

These wipers help keep the rod dry. As the rod moves out, they wipe off dirt and debris. As the rod moves back in, they keep even a tiny amount of oil from leaving the cylinder.

Flight Control

A wet rod would mist hydraulic fluid into the surrounding wing cavities during flight, creating a serious fire hazard near electrical wiring

Food Processing & Packaging

Keeping the rod dry ensures that no residual hydraulic oil leaks to contaminate the edible products. 

Paper Mills

The cylinders require bone-dry rods to prevent oil mist or fluid droplets from ruining the paper being manufactured.

Nuclear or Hazardous Environments Hydraulics: 

A dry rod guarantees that dust or chemical toxins do not stick to a wet rod and get drawn back into the main cylinder seals.

Low Friction

A low-friction wiper seal prioritizes maximum energy efficiency, high-speed movement, and smooth, highly responsive control.

High-Performance Vehicle Suspensions

Mountain bike front suspension forks or racing car shock absorbers. They require ultra-low friction dust wipers so the suspension reacts instantly to minor bumps on the trail or track 

Air-powered factory machinery

Because air systems operate at lower forces than heavy fluid hydraulics, an aggressive high-friction wiper would completely stall or severely slow down the machine's cycling speed.

Tough polyurethane sealing material made to last longer in demanding hydraulic applications.

· Works well with many fluids, including mineral oils, water-based hydraulic fluids, seawater, biodegradable fluids, vegetable oils, biodiesel, and modern hydraulic fluids.

· Helps prevent breakdown caused by water or water-based fluids.

· Good for water hydraulics, mining, tunneling, industrial hydraulics, heavy-duty high-pressure systems, and general sealing jobs.

· Common uses include lip seals, rod and piston seals, wipers, V-packings, and custom seals.

· Best choice when longer service life and better performance are needed.
